Murudeshwar Travel Guide: Temple, Statue & Netrani Diving (2026)

You can do Murudeshwar in 4 hours flat (most tour buses do). You shouldn't. Here's the better, two-day version — with the temple, gopuram lift, beach, and a scuba dive at India's #1 west-coast site.

Why two days?

Day-trippers see the statue, climb the lift, take a photo, and leave. Stay overnight and you get the temple at golden hour, dinner with a sea view, and — most importantly — a half-day window to dive Netrani Island, which only operates morning trips.

Day 1 — Arrive, temple, gopuram, sunset beach

Day 2 — Netrani Island scuba

Where to stay in Murudeshwar

Stick to Beach Road for sea views — RNS Residency, Naveen Beach Resort and the Kamat Sea View are reliable mid-range picks. Budget travellers will find clean rooms behind the temple complex for under ₹1,500 a night.

How to combine with other Karnataka coast spots

Murudeshwar pairs naturally with Honnavar (25 km north) and Gokarna (75 km north) for a 4–5 day coastal Karnataka loop. Add Yana for a forest-day on the way back.
