Gokarna's two most remote beaches share no road access — just a coastal trek or a short boat ride from Om Beach — which is exactly why they stay so quiet. If Om and Kudle feel busy, this is where to head.
Quick Facts
- Access: Trek or boat only — no direct road
- From Om Beach: Half Moon ~30-40 min trek; Paradise a further ~20 min
- Facilities: A handful of basic huts and food stalls, seasonal
- Best for: Escaping the crowds, camping, sunset
Half Moon Beach
The first of the two remote beaches on the trail south from Om Beach, Half Moon is a small, crescent-shaped cove — hence the name. There are no roads in, just the headland trail or a short boat ride. A few huts and simple food stalls operate seasonally, and camping on the beach is common among long-stay travellers.
Paradise Beach
A further 20-minute walk south of Half Moon, Paradise is the most remote of Gokarna's main beaches and completely car-free. It has even fewer facilities than Half Moon — carry food and water if you're planning to spend the day. The reward is a level of quiet that's hard to find on Om or Kudle beach.
How to Reach
Both beaches are reached from Om Beach, either by the coastal footpath (moderate difficulty, one steep climb over the headland) or by a short boat ride during calm-season conditions. There is no vehicle access to either beach.
Best Time to Visit
October to March offers the calmest seas for the boat option and the most comfortable trekking weather. During monsoon (June-September), the trail can be slippery and boat transfers often pause — plan a visit outside this window if possible.
